This is where I’ll post my art, sprites, concept designs, and site graphics.
I also want to show art that isnt my own that I just really like, all properly credited of course

I wouldnt consider myself an art critic so I dont have the vocabulary to fully express my feelings about this work but I love the surrealism of this art piece.

I saw this image on the r/VintagePixelart subreddit and I like the coziness of this piece. I can only imagine having this kind of setup in the mid-90s. Unfourtantely The artist isnt listed and neither is the title, even after a good bit of googling. Once I do find the original artist, ill update

I really like these old landscape pieces. This one is from 1991 and theres this cool thing that happens with this old digital art where the artists did their absolute best to try to make it look as real as possible but they still had to work within the limitations of the medium. This leads to pieces like this, that are definetly pixel-art but its pixel-art that has a different feel and look compared to modern forms of pixel-art.

This to me fits the Vaporwave more than anything ive seen. We got the greek columns, we got tropical feel. We got consumer electronics from the late 80s. All thats really missing is the undercurrent of anti-capitalism and some pink and violet pastel hues

I really like how this era of computing had the computers shipping with artwork specifically to show off the specs of the computer. We get a lot of cool pieces like this one
This section will be for my game projects, programming work, and other things I’m building.
I’ll probably post dev updates, screenshots, and progress notes here.
CritterBound
CritterBound is the project I am currently working on. It is a mix between Stardew valley and Pokemon. The idea for it came from when I was bored at work and wanted a tiny command prompt game I could run on my work computer. It was simple, you had a creature that you had to feed and play with to make sure its happy and taken care of. Well I quickly got bored of that and wanted more from the game. I wanted different species you could get, I then thought about the system in the 6th and 7th generation pokemon games where you could play and feed your pokemon while out and about.
Then I thought, what would these creatures eat? Where would you get the food, and thats what made me think of Stardew Valley and the rest is history.
CritterBound is still in early development, so far what I have working is, an active database that keeps track of the stats and other info of each species of Critter ( Critter is my name for the animals of this world that you will be interacting with) I also have a way to spawn them in an area and I have the begininngs of the battle screen.
Here is a list of a few critters I have so far and their walking animations

HelioHop is the first critter I made. Just like pokemon, every critter has an elemental typing, mine are a little different but the idea is the same. HelioHop is a Lumo type, Lumo types are Solar themed critters, so they have something to do with the sun or solar energy. There are 2 more stages that HelioHop can Morph into (Instead of Evolution, critters go through MetaMorphasis and its tied more into how well you take care of them and another factor.) For HelioHop you just need to make sure its happiness and hunger are above 80 and level it up to certain levels. But for other Critters instead of leveling, you may have to feed it a certain type of food that contains ingredients that only grow during one season or you have to get a certain length into the story, etc.
Here are The Webrings I am a part of and any socials I feel like are cool
You can also add 88x31 button links in the left sidebar.
My name is Joseph, but online I go by DeadpanRobo.
This site is my personal corner of the web where I can post things I care about and avoid the impersonal feeling of social media.
In real life I work as a researcher at a university, sepcifically for Cybersecurity. And that is about a much as I am legally allowed to say about my job so that was fun! Even though this is my job, I originally got into Computer Science because I wanted to make Video Games but wanted a degree I could fall back on if that dream didnt work out. So far I am working on one game right now, you can find more about it in my Projects section, but its been so fun working on that, it definetly brought my passion for coding back, which is honestly what lead me to want to start this site. I wanted something fun I could code, instead of the usual mind-numbing scripts I write for work.
Another thing about me is that I really like Physics and space (You could probably guess that from the theme of the site). I originally wanted to be an Astrophysicist and actually went to college orginally working towards a Physics degree. Of course that path changed due to a number of factors but my fasination with the stars and other astronomical phenomena still exists to this day!
Theres not much more I can think of right now, but the beauty of something like this, is that I can update it whenever I want!

This is my corner of the internet!
Who am I? Well my real name is Joseph but on here I also go by DeadpanRobo. Weird name I know, but I've had this username for the last 16 years and I use it for all of my online socials.
Speaking of socials...
I made this site because I was tired of the impersonal feeling social media has gained over the years. I decided that the best way to fight this growing vibe was to join the growing Web Revival Movement.
I also want my website to be an area on the web where I can showcase my art. I make videogames in my spare time and I want to show off things like the assets I make and the projects themselves.
I am also a very opinionated person and I love telling people my feelings on subjects I have knowledge in. So I’ll also have reviews of media I’ve seen or am currently playing, watching, or reading. I’ll also occasionally post advice for things like programming, videogames, or anything else I have some kind of expertise in.
Well, I’ll let you find what you want on my site. Thank you for stopping by!
Oh also heres my 88x31 button! Use it on your website to show support!
